THE MILK OF THE WORD: PART 1 OF 3

LABOR TO RECEIVE THE MEAT 

Greetings. John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. The meat that perishes will be our own will or carnal understanding about the Bible. Carnal relates to what we can naturally see and understand when reading the Bible. 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. As long as we are in this natural wisdom about the Bible, we are on the milk of the word. Yet, we go out and spiritually try to obtain a wisdom about the Bible that God did not give, we invented a worldly wisdom about the Bible and called it god’s wisdom. James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. We are unskillful in God’s word of righteousness when we cannot separate our own earthly wisdom from His. Hebrews 5:13For everyone that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. The milk is the carnal understanding of the Bible and is the spiritual process we must all go through to get to the meat. In twenty years of playing Church, I only met three people who were on the meat. John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. God’s will be that we Spiritually see His words as they are seen in heaven. Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. The earth in the above verse symbolizes man; God wants his will or words to be done in man: thus, His will can never be done in us, while we are on the milk of the word. God formed man out of the dust or earth. We do not like to think of ourselves as mere dust or earth and is there anything more useless as dust? Man! Without His Spirit we are totally useless to God and are considered by God as being spiritually dead already. Funerals can be a waste of time and money: because you are only witnessing the spiritually dead people, bury their physical dead. Matthew 8: 21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 22   But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. We are to spiritually labor to get off the milk, which God call unskillful. Hebrews 5:13For everyone that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. Millions go to Churches for years and never get off the milk of the word and cannot please God. 1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. People simply have no desire to read or study God's word and they may never admit to this fact, but their actions speak louder than words. Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. We have all delighted ourselves in our own earthly wisdom about the scriptures and our desires have been God give me more money, cars, a better job, etc.  Michael Rudolph Hodges
