Even if we never read the Bible our foolish imagination about His character is sin.Proverbs 24:9The thought of foolishness is sin. Psalm 21:11For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.The things we are not able to perform is to comprehend Spiritual things but thought we could:we imagined a mischievous thing.1 Timothy 1:17Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. God’s thoughts are immortal and invisible to my mortal thinking and are very deep. The next time someone say they have faith, ask them to explain something invisible in the Bible God has shown them. Jesus is the invisible image made flesh or the substance God spoke of. This substance is a very deep thing and I feel God’s grace is sufficient to reveal more about it. In this Christian walk we do not stay in one Spiritual place. The carnal mind is constantly warring against the things of God; we never resist because we blindly believe we are seeing the faith and are only seeing our own substance. As long as we are deceived by our own carnal thinking there is no warring in the mind and the battle is lost. 1 Corinthians 9:26

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air.Absolutely nothing we are warring against is physical but are own thoughts against God word. The war is not against a physical neighbor or do you sleep with your best friend wife, but if he is your best friend, why would you think such a thought? But we have no problem thinking evil against God’s word and that is what God calls sin.Proverbs 24:9

Job 1:3His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.The above verse speaks of the material possessions of the Prophet Job and our carnal mind conclude this deal with physical things. Thus, Job was a very wealthy man in fact its states he was the greatest. One definition of substance is the quality of being important, valid, or significant. We are all born with our earthly-devilish carnal mind, which possess great substances: mentally concerning the character of God person. Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.This covetousness in the above verse has nothing to do with anything physical: we covet after God’s word to make it our own wisdom.Jeremiah 6:13For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. We have all coveted after God’s word, from the Pastors who quote scriptures without any spiritual understanding and the Rappers who use scriptures in their messages. People can attend Churches for years and read the Bible daily, yet never obtain anything of Spiritual significance. When reading the Bible, the following thought should make us slow to speak and hear. Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. All our own carnal thoughts concerning the Bible must be dissolve by God’s spiritual fire. Job 20:18That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein. The earthly wisdom we have mentally labored for concerning God’s person shall perish and cannot spiritually feed us. We cannot make restitution or give back God our substance because our earthly wisdom is rejected. Millions rejoice in their earthy wisdom concerning the Bible and imagine they are great men or women of God. What happen to Job substance and what must happen to ours if we are to inherit eternal life. Job 30:22 Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance. I was watching the original movie: The house of wax, and it showed the beautiful wax figures being melted in a fire. The false substance that has made us all spiritually rich will be dissolved. Nothing in the Bible is physical and God uses the physical to try and show us the Spiritual. The man God use to begin to correct my earthly thinking; stated God stripped him of many of his physical possession to show him his heart was not right with Him. Years later he understood why God stripped him of the physical, to show him he spiritually had nothing of God. Joshua 2:11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. Now is the above verse talking spiritually or did what they heard caused their heart to physically to dissolve. When we hear God’s word for the first time spiritually it comes as a flaming spiritual rebuke; not all this foolishness about being an awesome spiritual being. 2 Thessalonians 1:8in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Why would God come to take vengeance on our earthly wisdom; against the living souls we have spiritual slain, found in His words. Revelation 6:9And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held. The Prophet of old, words held a hidden testimony in them, and that testimony would be revealed in the coming of Jesus.      Michael Rudolph Hodges  3/26/2021
